2. The cuffs are located in the side openings of the transmission, where the drive shafts are removed from it. If you suspect a cuff leak, raise the vehicle and support it on stands. If the cuff is indeed leaking, traces of oil may be found underneath it.
3. Remove the drive shafts (see chapter 8).
4. Use a screwdriver or a crowbar to remove the cuffs from the bores (figure 7.4).

5. If the cuff cannot be removed with a screwdriver, there is a special tool for this.
6. Lubricate the working edge of the cuff with transmission fluid, insert the cuff into the socket and press it into the crankcase. To press in, use a special mandrel, or if you don't have one, just use a piece of pipe with an outer diameter slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the cuff. Press the cuff without distortion until it stops at the bottom of the socket.
