Caution! The models described in this manual are equipped with air bags. When working in the airbag area, always turn them off (see chapter 12) to avoid accidental activation, which could result in injury. The yellow wire harness that runs through the console and instrument panel is related to this system. Do not tamper with the airbag wiring or attempt to test it with any testing equipment.


1. Remove the center console (see chapter 11).

2. Remove the four screws that secure the selector lever position indicator (figure 3.2) and lift the indicator.

3. Disconnect the connectors from the locking unit (figure 3.3).

4. Disconnect the overdrive switch connector.

5. Disconnect the cable from the locking unit (see paragraph 5). Loosen the lock nut and release the control cable (see paragraph 4).



Note: The lock cable locks the ignition switch on the instrument panel, while the control cable is connected to the transmission selector lever.


6. Remove the screws on both sides of the selector lever handle and remove the handle.

7. Loosen the nuts securing the selector lever support (Fig. 3.7) and remove the support from the vehicle.

8. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Tighten the control arm support nuts securely.
