Ancillary units such as the water pump, alternator, power steering pump and air conditioning compressor are driven by a common wide poly V-belt (ribbed) belt. When replacing a poly V-belt, only install a belt of the same size.

The poly V-belt is wider than a regular V-belt and has ribs on its working surface. The belt tension is adjusted only on a diesel engine; on other engines, an automatic tension roller maintains the belt tension constant. The poly V-belt has a long service life and should only be checked after 45 thousand km and, if necessary, replaced. When installing, you must be especially careful to ensure that the belt runs correctly and is correctly positioned on the pulleys.

The poly V-belt must be replaced in the following cases:
  • in case of fractures and cracks, presence of worn and shiny areas;
  • loud noise (for example, due to oil ingress);
  • with such damage: transverse cracks in the ribs, rib breaks, dirt inclusions and small stones between the ribs, notches or wear on the ribs.

Caution: If the poly V-belt is to be reused, mark its direction of rotation with chalk. This direction must not be changed.
