Check the exhaust system a few hours after stopping the engine.
For free access to the system, raise the car on a lift.
Check the pipes and their connections for exhaust gas leaks that indicate corrosion or damage.
Check the condition of the brackets and hangers of the exhaust system.
Inspect the bottom of the car for holes, corrosion, open seams through which exhaust gases can enter the car interior. Seal any holes found with sealant.
Check that the elements of the exhaust system are installed freely, without tension, with sufficient clearance relative to the body elements.
Check the condition of the engine by inspecting the inside of the exhaust pipe. If the pipe is black and covered with a layer of soot or white flakes, then it is necessary to adjust the engine and inspect the power system.
