Lean fuel mixture control system when the vehicle is in neutral gear (Mazda Capella GC)

Vehicles with a manual transmission are equipped with an idle air-fuel mixture lean valve. The valve is designed to supply additional air to the inlet pipe when the accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle is coasting, resulting in a reduction in the content of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases.

Malfunction of the mixture leaning system may cause unstable operation and an increase in the engine crankshaft speed at idle, as well as continued engine operation after the ignition is turned off.

Checking the technical condition of the air-fuel mixture leaning system when the vehicle is moving in neutral gear is given in section 2.

Replacement of elements

Leaner valve

Remove the air filter and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

Remove the screws securing the depletion valve to the carburetor. Disconnect the connector from the valve and move it to the side. Replace the O-ring gasket.

Install the new valve in the reverse order of removal.

Idle speed control system economizer switch

Remove the air filter and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

Remove the screws securing the switch to the carburetor. Disconnect the connector from the switch and move it to the side.

Install the new switch in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the air filter, check the switch adjustment as described in section 2.
