Examination
Observe the transmission mounts as the assistant lifts and pushes down on the transmission. If the rubber element of the mount separates from the steel base or the transmission housing moves up but does not drop, indicating that the mount has reached the bottom limit, replace the mount.
Replacement
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Use a jack to support the gearbox through a wooden block.
Remove the bolts securing the powertrain support to the engine or gearbox.
Loosen the nuts securing the support to the body and remove the support.
Position the new support correctly and screw in the mounting bolts to the engine or gearbox. Tighten the bolts to the specified torques.
Screw on the nuts securing the supports to the body and tighten them to the required torque.
Remove the jack and connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
