Fuel level meter sensor (Mazda Capella GE)

Examination

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the fuel pump and fuel level gauge.

3. Connect an ohmmeter to the contacts and measure the resistance. Measure the sensor's resistance when the meter's lever is fully lowered (the tank is empty) – 105 ohms, and when the lever is fully raised (the tank is full) – 3–6 ohms. The resistance should change evenly as you move the lever.

4. Replace the sensor if necessary.

Replacement

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the fuel pump and fuel level gauge.

3. Disconnect the sensor contacts.



4. Remove the screws and disconnect the sensor assembly from the fuel pump bracket.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
