Exhaust manifold — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GE)

Removal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire, remove the sensor if you are installing a new manifold.



3. Unscrew the heat-insulating screen bolts and remove the screen.

4. Raise and support the front of the vehicle.

5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold and lower the vehicle.

6. Unscrew the manifold bolts and remove the manifold.

Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the manifold and cylinder head. If the manifold gasket has been leaking, contact a specialist.

2. Install a new gasket.

3. Install the manifold and insert the bolts.

4. Tighten the bolts and install the remaining parts.

5. Check the engine operation.
