Oil Heat Exchanger (V-Type Engines) — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GF)

1. The oil heat exchanger on V-shaped engines is installed between the oil filter and its base. The cooling system fluid is pumped through the heat exchanger via two hoses.

2. To remove the heat exchanger, first remove the oil filter and drain the coolant from the engine.

3. Disconnect the two cooling system hoses from the oil heat exchanger (figure 9.3).



4. Unscrew the nut securing the heat exchanger to the base and remove the heat exchanger.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Before installation, clean the mating surfaces and install a new seal between the heat exchanger and the base, lightly moistening it with engine oil.
