To remove the cover, turn it counterclockwise and remove it.

When you reinstall the lid, check that it fits tightly.

Note: If the fuel filler cap does not open due to low outside temperatures, push or lightly tap the cap to open it.

Carefully!
  • If the fuel tank pressure seal needs to be replaced, use only Mazda or other manufacturer specified pressure seals for your vehicle.
  • During refueling, the engine must be stopped. No fire or sparks are allowed near the fuel tank opening. Gasoline vapors can be extremely hazardous under certain conditions.

Fuel

(for cars with gasoline engines)
(leaded gasoline)

Your Mazda vehicle can operate efficiently on regular leaded or unleaded gasoline, provided the engine has been tuned to the manufacturer's recommended specifications.

[For 2.0 and 2.01 models]

Use leaded or unleaded fuel with an octane rating greater than or equal to 95.

(Unleaded gasoline)

Use only unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 (95)* (RON) or DIM 51 607.

*(95) 2.0i models only (16-valve)

Caution! If you use leaded gasoline, it will not immediately damage your car. Lead oxide is deposited in the catalytic converter and in the exhaust gas control system. Which causes poor system performance and thus reduced performance. If your engine is running poorly, contact your Mazda service center immediately.

For diesel engines

Your vehicle can operate efficiently if the engine is adjusted to the manufacturer's specifications, with fuel having a higher specific gravity of 0.82 (octane rating of 40 or higher).
