What you need to know when changing your oil (Mazda Capella GC)

First, it is recommended to not only allow the old oil to drain completely, but also to turn the engine crankshaft 5-7 revolutions to remove the remaining oil from the oil lines. It is also useful to flush the engine (for this purpose, a special flushing oil is used) for 20–25 minutes, while the engine should run in idle mode.

When changing the oil, you should always replace the filter as well. The old one, even if washed, will be "like a fly in the ointment.".

The oil should be changed in a closed room where there is no dust or wind.

When checking the oil level in the engine crankcase, the rag used to wipe the dipstick must be clean. Even seemingly insignificant dust particles that get into the engine significantly reduce its service life.

When changing the oil, the gasket of the drain plug in the engine oil pan and the oil filter housing are also changed (if it is installed). The gasket is included with the oil filter.

After changing the oil, it is useful to record the car's mileage, the date of the change, and the brand of oil, so that there are fewer problems during subsequent changes or topping up.

You shouldn't be afraid that the oil will darken after just 1000 km. This only indicates that it is "working" correctly – it retains carbon deposits and washes the surfaces of the parts.
