Remove the timing belt cover (figure 15.9).
Figure 15.10. Aligning the arrow with number 1 on the camshaft pulley with the notch before removing the timing belt
Make sure the number 1 arrow on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the notch on the rear belt cover (figure 15.10). Align the marks if necessary.
Loosen the lock bolt, move the tensioner to the left to loosen the timing belt tension, then tighten the lock bolt.
Remove the timing belt.
Make sure the number 1 arrow on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the notch and the mark on the drive belt pulley is aligned with the pointer on the front cover.
Make sure the tensioner spring is fully extended and the lock bolt is securely tightened.
Install the belt by placing it over the oil pump pulley and the tensioner idler pulley.
Loosen the tensioner mounting lock bolt.
Rotate the crankshaft two revolutions in the direction of operating rotation and ensure that the number 1 arrow on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the notch and the mark on the drive belt pulley is aligned with the pointer on the front cover. If the marks do not match, remove the belt and reinstall it.
Tighten the timing belt tensioner retaining bolt to the specified torque.
Check the belt tension by measuring its deflection.
If the tension is not correct, loosen the lock bolt and adjust the tensioner to the required belt deflection, then tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
Install the timing belt covers.
