Front crankshaft oil seal (Mazda Capella GE)

There are two methods for replacing the front crankshaft oil seal. You can remove the oil pump and knock out the seal (recommended method) or use the easier method described below.

Replacement

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Lock the crankshaft and remove the pulley bolt.



3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

4. Remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket.



5. Remember the depth of the oil seal and remove it using a special tool or a screwdriver.

6. Clean the oil seal groove and lubricate the new oil seal with engine oil.



7. Install the new seal in place.

8. Install the remaining parts, start the engine and check for leaks.
