Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the coolant. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the pipe.
3. Remove the air intake pipes and air filter. Remove the intake manifold.
4. Remove the exhaust manifolds.
5. Remove the generator. Disconnect the wires from the spark plugs. Remove the ignition distributor and ignition coil.
6. Remove the timing belt, camshaft sprockets, timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys.
7. Remove the camshafts and valve lifters.

6. Remove the bolts and the rear timing belt cover.

7. Remove the coolant hoses from the cylinder heads.
8. Remove the bolts and disconnect the wire harnesses from the rear of the heads.

9. Using the reverse sequence of tightening, loosen in several approaches (1/4 turn each) cylinder head bolts. Prepare new bolts.
10. Remove the cylinder heads.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean and wipe the mating surfaces of the cylinder heads and blocks with solvent or acetone.
2. Inspect the mating surfaces for cracks, deep scratches and other damage. If the above damage is detected, the head must be treated in a specialized workshop.
3. Clean the head bolt holes using suitable taps.
4. Install new head gaskets.
5. Install the cylinder heads.

6. Lubricate the threads of the new bolts with a small amount of oil. Insert the bolts and tighten them in the sequence shown, using the instructions given in subsection 3.3.2.
7. Install the remaining parts in reverse order.
