Removing
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the coolant. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the nozzle.
3. Remove the air intake pipes and air filter. Remove the intake manifold.
4. Remove exhaust manifolds.
5. Remove the generator. Disconnect wires from spark plugs. Remove the ignition distributor switch and ignition coil.
6. Remove the timing belt, camshaft sprockets, timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys.
7. Remove camshafts and valve lifters.
6. Unscrew the bolts and remove the rear timing belt cover.
7. Remove the coolant pipes from the cylinder heads.
8. Remove the bolts and disconnect the wiring harnesses from the rear of the heads.
9. Using the reverse sequence of tightening, loosen in several sets (1/4 turn) cylinder head bolts. Prepare new bolts.
10. Remove the cylinder heads.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean and wipe the mating surfaces of the heads and cylinder blocks with a solvent or acetone.
2. Inspect the mating surfaces for cracks, deep scratches or other damage. If the above damage is found, the head must be processed in a specialized workshop.
3. Clean the head bolt holes with suitable taps.
4. Install new head gaskets.
5. Install the cylinder heads.
6. Lubricate the threads of the new bolts with a little oil. Insert the bolts and tighten them in the sequence shown, following the instructions given in subsection 3.3.2.
7. Install the remaining parts in reverse order.
