Intermediate shaft — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GE)

Removal

1. Disconnect the inner end of the right axle shaft from the intermediate shaft.



2. Loosen the intermediate bearing mounting bolts; the bolts must be tightened in the order specified.



3. Remove the inner end of the intermediate shaft from the gearbox.

4. Check the condition of the intermediate bearing.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Lubricate splines and seals with multi-purpose grease before installation. Replace the snap ring on the end of the intermediate shaft.
