2. Jack up and securely support the front of the vehicle on axle stands.
3. Inspect the transmission output shaft seals located where the drive shafts exit the transmission. These areas may need to be cleaned before inspection. If oil is leaking from any connection between the output shaft and the transmission, the output shaft seals must be replaced - see Section 7.
4. Drive shaft covers play a very important role - they prevent dirt, water, etc. from entering. in the CV joints, which can cause damage to the latter. Check the condition of all four cases (two on each drive shaft). It is recommended to wash the covers with soapy water, because. Oil or grease that gets on them can prematurely render the covers unusable. If there is any damage or evidence of lubricant leakage, the boots must be replaced as described in Section 8. Check the tightness of the boot clips. If they are loose and cannot be tightened, replace the clamp (photo).
