If the fuel pressure in the injectors were always constant, then fluctuations in intake manifold vacuum would cause the wrong amount of fuel to be delivered, even if the injection period was correct. To remedy this shortcoming, a fuel pressure regulator is provided which maintains the fuel pressure 2.7 kg/cm2 higher than the intake manifold pressure.
