Remove the air valves.
Start the engine, then increase and decrease the crankshaft speed several times; using a piece of paper as an indicator, check that air is being sucked into the plate valve body.
Caution! Maintain engine speed at approximately 2500 min⁻¹
, make sure that no exhaust gases are escaping from the valve body.

To remove the reed valves, disconnect the air hoses and unscrew the outer cover mounting bolts (figure 14.32). Remove the valves and rubber seals.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
