Warm up the engine and let it idle.
Connect a voltmeter between the valve terminal "W" and the vehicle ground. Increase the engine speed, release the accelerator pedal sharply and make sure that the voltmeter shows zero voltage only when the speed decreases. Otherwise, check the corresponding wires.
Mark the vacuum hose connections, then disconnect them. Disconnect the connector and unscrew the valve mounting bolts.
Blow air into the valve inlet and check that air comes out only from the channel leading to the carburetor. Then apply 12V to the valve contacts and repeat the check – air should only come out of the channel leading to the air filter. Replace the solenoid valve if it is faulty.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
