Figure 14.30. Air injection system of the RVT system: 1 – air nozzles; 2 – air supply valves; 3 – three-way electromagnetic valve; 4 – control unit of the RVT system
The air injection system installed on engines with the EGR system includes two vacuum air supply control valves, an electromagnetic valve controlled by the EGR system control unit, and air injectors on the exhaust manifold (figure 14.30). The system uses the exhaust gas flow to draw air from the air cleaner into the exhaust manifold to aid in the afterburning of unburned or partially burned fuel.
The air injection system consists of two subsystems - one for cylinders 1 and 4, the second for cylinders 2 and 3, since the pressure pulsation between these cylinders is synchronized.
In case of engine overload, the system is closed by an electromagnetic valve, which opens the air valves and releases air into the atmosphere.
