The engine is equipped with an oil circulation lubrication system. The oil pump is located at the end of the crankshaft, behind the crankshaft belt pulley, however for a standard petrol. DOHC engines and diesel engines use different pump systems. The oil pump housing also serves as a casing for the front oil seal ring. The gears of a gasoline engine pump consist of two ring gears, the outer one has an internal toothed crown, while the inner one has an external one.
When the internal gear meshes with the external gear, the oil flow changes, thereby increasing pressure. In DOHC and diesel engines, the pump wheels have rotor blades rather than teeth, but the pump operates on the same principle.
