Oil pressure control (Mazda Capella GD)

Unscrew the oil pressure switch next to the oil filter (after the electrical wire was disconnected) and answer the pressure gauge. On a diesel engine, also disconnect the oil hose between the vacuum pump and the cylinder block and remove the pump drive belt to prevent the bearing from overheating. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches operating temperature. Bring the engine up to 3000 rpm and check if the following readings are obtained:

• Standard engine - 3.5-4.5 kgf/cm²
• DOHC engine — 3.0-4.0 kgf/cm²
• Diesel engine - 3.5-4.5 kgf/cm²

If they are not lower, there may be other defects:

• Make sure the oil level is between the "F" and "L" marks.
• The filter may be clogged. If this happens, it needs to be replaced.
• Remove the oil pump and check it as already described.
• Check the oil relief valve and the condition of the springs.
