Type A - analog indication. If the thermometer needle moves beyond the normal temperature mark, this means the engine is overheated.

Type B - electronic digital indication. To indicate engine overheating, all segments of the display light up.

If this happens, proceed as follows:
- 1. Pull over to the side of the road and stop the car.
- 2. Turn off the air conditioner.
- 3. If coolant leaks from the radiator, stop the engine. Turn the key in the steering wheel lock to the "ON(II)" position, but do not start the engine. The radiator cooling fans turn on automatically. If the fans do not turn on, contact a Mazda service center.
- 4. If no coolant leak is detected from the radiator, let the engine run slowly and open the hood to allow the engine to cool gradually.
- 5. If the temperature does not drop, stop the engine and allow it to cool for a sufficient period of time.
- 6. Inspect all coolant paths and connections. If no leak is found, stop the engine immediately and contact a Mazda service station.
- 7. If no coolant leak is detected, check the coolant level. Add coolant if necessary.

Caution! Do not remove the radiator cap if the engine and radiator are hot. You may be injured by boiling coolant and hot steam.
Caution: If the engine continues to overheat, inspect and, if necessary, repair the cooling system.
