2. The first sign of a malfunction in the fuel vapor extraction system is a strong smell of gasoline in the engine compartment. If you smell gasoline, inspect the charcoal canister located on the engine compartment heat shield (photo), and system hoses.

3. To test the operation of the system, place your hand under the canister, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, and slowly increase the engine speed. If air is sucked into the base of the canister, the system is working.
