2. The filter element is located inside the casing on the engine. To replace it, remove the wing nut located on top of the air cleaner assembly, release the clips and remove the top plate (photo).

3. Once the top plate is removed, be careful not to drop anything into the carburetor.
4. Lift the air filter element out of the housing (photo).

5. Wipe the inside of the air filter housing with a clean cloth.
6. Place the new filter element into the air filter housing. Make sure it is seated properly in the base of the housing.
7. The crankcase ventilation filter is also located inside the air filter housing. Remove the top plate and air cleaner element as described above, then locate the PCV filter on the side of the housing.
8. Use a screwdriver to release the filter, then pull it out of the housing (photo).

9. Install the new PCV filter and air cleaner element.
10. Install the top plate, making sure that its arrow aligns with the arrow on the air duct.
