2. The filter element is located inside the casing on the engine. To replace it, remove the wing nut located on top of the air cleaner assembly, release the brackets and remove the top plate (photo).

3. After the top plate is removed, be careful not to drop anything into the carburetor.
4. Lift the air cleaner element out of the housing (photo).

5. Wipe the inside of the air filter housing with a clean cloth.
6. Place a new filter element in the air filter housing. Make sure it sits properly in the base of the casing.
7. The crankcase ventilation filter is also located inside the air filter housing. Remove the top plate and air cleaner element as described above, then locate the crankcase ventilation filter on the casing wall.
8. Use a screwdriver to release the filter, then pull it out of the casing (photo).

9. Install a new crankcase ventilation filter and air filter element.
10. Install the top plate, making sure its arrow lines up with the arrow on the air duct.
