2. With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, remove the valve (with hose) from a rubber sealing ring in the camshaft cover (photo).

3. Place your finger on the end of the valve. If the engine speed decreases, the valve is working properly. If the engine speed does not decrease, the valve is defective and must be replaced with a new one.
4. To replace the valve, remove it from the end of the hose, noting its correct position (photo).

5. When purchasing a crankcase breather valve, make sure the new valve is the right one for your model, given the year of manufacture and engine size. Compare the old valve with the new one to make sure they are identical.
6. Insert the valve into the end of the hose.
7. Inspect the rubber o-ring for damage and replace with a new one if necessary.
8. Push the crankcase ventilation valve into place.
