2. If there is no base, it is possible to place the engine on a sturdy workbench or on the floor.
3. If you are going to replace the engine, you must first disconnect the weight of the external components in order to install them on the engine you are replacing. Remove the following components:
- Generator and brackets
- Emission Control System Components
- Distributor, spark plug wires and spark plugs
- Thermostat and housing cover
- Water pump
- Carburetor
- intake/exhaust manifolds
- Oil filter
- Fuel pump
- Engine mounts
- Flywheel/Drive Disc
Note: When removing external engine components, pay special attention to parts that may be useful or important in installation. Note the installed position of gaskets, seals, gaskets, pins, washers, bolts and other small parts.
4. If you are getting a short block that consists of the engine block, crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods assembled, then the cylinder head, sump and oil pump will also need to be removed.
5. If you are planning a complete overhaul, the engine must be dismantled and the internal components removed in the following order:
- Timing belt cover
- Toothed drive belt
- Camshaft covers
- Front and rear gearbox covers
- Cylinder head and camshaft
- Pallet
- Oil pump
- Piston/Connecting Rod Assemblies
- Crankshaft
6. Before starting the disassembly and repair procedure, make sure you have the following:
- General mechanical tools
- Small cardboard boxes or plastic boxes to store parts
- Scraper
- connector
- Vibration damper puller
- Micrometers
- Sliding Templates (probes)
- Micrometer set
- Valve spring puller
- Cylinder Leveling Tool
- Piston ring groove cleaning tool
- Electric drill
- Cork and a set of dies
- Wire brushes
- Cleaning solvent
