Caution! Make sure the battery case is free of cracks and electrolyte leaks. To protect your hands from electrolyte when removing the battery, use special rubber gloves (non-household).
The battery is located in the front of the engine compartment. The battery is secured by a clamp that covers the entire battery housing.
Disconnect the battery cables from the terminals, starting with the negative terminal.
Loosen the nuts and remove the battery mounting bracket.
Carefully remove the battery from the engine compartment.
Do not turn the battery upside down under any circumstances. Spilled electrolyte should be washed off immediately with plenty of water. To protect your hands from electrolyte, ensure that the battery case is free of cracks and electrolyte leaks. When removing the battery, use rubber gloves (non-household) and protective glasses.
Caution! When charging a battery, explosive gas is generated under the cover of each cell.
Caution! Do not smoke near a charging battery or a battery that has recently been charged. Disconnect the wires from the terminals of the charging battery only after the charger has been switched off, as a spark will occur at the points where the circuit is opened under load. Keep batteries with open caps away from fire.
Check the battery bracket for damage caused by battery leakage. Otherwise, clean the surface with a stiff brush and wipe with a cloth soaked in a solution of baking soda and clean, warm water.
Wipe the top of the battery with the same solution.
Check the battery case and cover for cracks, replace the battery if necessary.
Clean the battery terminals with an appropriate cleaner.
Clean the inside surface of the terminal clamps using a suitable tool. Replace damaged or old wires and worn-out clamps.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Tighten the battery mounting nuts without applying too much force to avoid damaging the case.
Connect the wires to the battery terminals, making sure the top of the wire clamps is level with the top of the terminals.
Tighten the wire clamps securely.
After this, apply a layer of mineral grease to all connections. The inner surfaces of the wire clamps and the contact surfaces of the battery terminals must not be lubricated, otherwise contact between the wire clamps and the terminals may be disrupted.
