Attention! Make sure that the battery case does not have cracks or electrolyte leaks. To protect your hands from electrolyte when removing the battery, use special rubber gloves (not household).
The battery is located in the front of the engine compartment. Battery fastening is provided by a clamping bracket covering the entire battery case.
Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, starting with the negative terminal.
Loosen the nuts and remove the battery bracket.
Carefully remove the battery from the engine compartment.
Never turn the battery upside down. Spilled electrolyte should be washed off immediately with plenty of water. To protect the skin of the hands from the electrolyte, it is necessary to ensure that the battery case does not have cracks and electrolyte leaks. Wear rubber gloves when removing the battery (not household) and goggles.
Attention! When the battery is being charged, explosive gas is generated under the cover of each cell.
Attention! Do not smoke near a battery being charged or a battery that has been recently charged. Disconnect the wires from the charging battery terminals only after the charger is turned off, as a spark will occur at the circuit breaks under load. Keep battery with open plugs away from fire.
Check the battery bracket for damage caused by leakage of battery electrolyte. Otherwise, clean the surface with a stiff brush and wipe with a cloth dampened with a solution of baking soda in clean, warm water.
Wipe the top of the battery with the same solution.
Check battery case and cover for cracks, replace battery if necessary.
Clean the battery terminals with an appropriate cleaner.
Clean the inside surface of the terminal clamps using an appropriate tool. Replace damaged or old wires and worn clamps.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Tighten the battery fastening nuts without applying too much force so as not to damage the case.
Connect the wires to the battery terminals, making sure the top of the wire clamps are flush with the top of the terminals.
Tighten the wire clamps securely.
After that, apply a coat of mineral grease to all joints. The inner surfaces of the wire clamps and the contact surfaces of the battery terminals must not be lubricated, otherwise the contact between the wire clamps and the terminals may be broken.
