The electric starting system includes a battery, a starter motor, a traction relay, an ignition switch, and a locking switch (only on cars with automatic transmission), connecting wires and battery wires.
When you turn the key in the ignition switch to the "start" position, power is supplied
voltage to the contact of the electromagnetic traction relay installed in the upper part of the starter. The traction relay anchor is retracted, moves the gear with the freewheel clutch through the drive lever and engages it with the flywheel ring gear. After the gear engages with the flywheel ring gear, the starter motor is activated, which turns the engine crankshaft. After the engine starts, the rotation speed of the gear exceeds the rotation speed of the starter armature and the freewheel clutch does not transmit torque from the engine flywheel to the starter armature shaft.
Do not start the engine by engaging the starter for more than 30 seconds. Wait at least 2 minutes before engaging the starter again. Engaging the starter for too long will cause it to overheat and cause serious damage.
