Cylinder head assembly (Mazda Capella GC)

Before starting assembly, it is necessary to ensure that the cylinder head is clean, regardless of whether the repair was carried out in a workshop or in a garage.

If the cylinder head was submitted to a workshop for valve repair, the valves will already be installed in place, complete with all parts.

Install new valve stem seals onto the valve guides. To install the oil deflector caps on the guide bushings, lightly tap the mandrel with a hammer. Avoid turning the cap when installing it, make sure that it fits evenly onto the sleeve, otherwise the valve stem seal will not be ensured.

Install the valves carefully to avoid damaging the valve stem seals, lower spring seat washers, springs, retainers and retaining rings.

Compress the valve spring using the tool and install the crackers. Release the spring and make sure the crackers enter the upper groove of the valve stem. If necessary, lubricate the crackers with grease before removing the device to improve their hold.

Install the camshaft.

Lubricate the rocker arms and shafts with fresh engine oil. Install the rocker arms with shafts and tighten the bolts to the required torque in the specified sequence.
