1. Electric windows are driven by electric motors installed in the doors and are designed to lower and raise the windows. The system consists of switches, electric motors, regulators, window lift mechanisms and electrical wiring.

2. The windows can be lowered or raised using the main switch from the driver's seat, or using the switches installed on the doors. Each glass is driven by a separate reversible electric motor. The position of the switch determines the polarity of the electric motor connection and. accordingly, the direction of movement of the glass.

3 The power window circuit is protected by a fuse and circuit breaker. Each electric motor is also protected by a circuit breaker. This prevents the failure of the entire system in the event of jamming of one of the window lifters.

4. The electric window system is activated only when the ignition is on. On most models, an additional switch is installed next to the main switch, which is designed to lock the rear door windows and, sometimes, to lock the passenger door window. Always start your system check by checking these switches.

5. If the system switches are working properly, but the problem persists, contact a specialized service station.

6. If the system does not work, first check the fuse and circuit breaker.

7. If only the rear door windows are faulty or the windows only work from the main switch, check the rear door window lock switch and make sure there is contact between its terminals. Replace the lock switch if necessary.



8. Check the wiring between the fuse and the switches. Fix the broken electrical wiring.

9. If the main switch does not control only one window, try turning on that window with the switch installed on the door.

Note: This method is not suitable for the driver's door.


10. If some windows are controlled by one switch and not by another, check the functionality of the corresponding switches.

11. If all switches are working properly, repair any open or short circuit in the wiring between the switch and the window lift motor.

12. If the window lift is not controlled by any of the switches, remove the door trim and check for voltage at the electric motor when the window lift is turned on. If the fault lies in the switches, check them according to the drawing 24.12,a-g.

13. If voltage is supplied to the electric motor, disconnect the glass from the window lift mechanism (see chapter 11). Move the glass with your hands and make sure that there is no jamming when moving it. Also make sure that the window lift mechanism is working properly. If the window regulator is working properly and the glass moves without sticking, replace the electric motor. If the mechanism jams, lubricate it or replace faulty parts.

14. If there is no voltage supplied to the electric motor, check the wiring between the switch and the electric motor. If necessary, use the appropriate wiring diagram. If there is a relay in the circuit, check the reliability of the relay grounding and the serviceability of the relay power supply circuit.
