1. The fluid in the manual transmission must be replaced at the specified intervals.
2. Before starting work, ensure that you have a sufficient quantity of the recommended type of oil (see Recommended oils and fluids at the beginning of this chapter).
3. To complete the job, you will also need: vehicle stands, a 3/8-inch ratchet, a container for draining the liquid with a capacity of at least 4 liters, a clean rag and old newspapers.
4. After the transmission has warmed up, place the vehicle on a level surface, raise it and place it on stands to access the drain plug. Place an empty container over the transmission drain hole and remove the plug. Allow the liquid to drain into the container.
5. Screw the plug back into place and tighten it thoroughly.
6. Fill with fresh oil through the inspection hole in the crankcase (see paragraph 17). Screw in and tighten the inspection hole plug.
