For both manual and automatic transmission vehicles, release the handbrake. Place the gearshift lever in the neutral position and turn the steering wheel lock key to the position "ACC (I) ". According to the rules of towing, the car that is being towed must have its wheels raised above the surface!
If the vehicle is severely damaged, use wheel carts to tow it with the front wheels on the ground. The vehicle can only be towed forward with four wheels on the ground. In this case, do not exceed the speed of 56 km/h and the distance of more than 80 km, otherwise the transmission may be damaged.
Attention. Do not tow the vehicle with the front wheels on the ground. This may damage the internal parts of the gearbox.
(Only for machines with 4 wheel drive)
When the vehicle hits the front and its front wheels are off the ground, make sure that each of the rear wheels follows them in a straight line.
If the towing speed exceeds 56 km/h, or if the distance exceeds 80 km, use one of these two methods:
- 1. Place the front wheels on the cart.
- 2. Tow with the front wheels up.
Attention:
- The following points are significant when towing a four-wheel vehicle on the ground. Remember that the gearshift lever must be in the neutral position, the steering wheel lock key must be in the ACC position (I) ", and the handbrake must be released. Remember also that the brake and steering booster does not function because the engine is not running.
- If you are using towing eyes, pay attention to the position of the tow rope. To avoid damage to the cable or eyelet, do not make strong and sudden jerks while driving.
- The rear eyelet should only be used when absolutely necessary (e.g. to pull a car out of a ditch, out of snow or mud)
