2. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature. Stop the engine and remove the air filter as described in Chapter 37.
3. Disconnect the auxiliary air valve electrical connector. Connect a voltmeter between the connector terminal and ground.
Connect a voltmeter to check the operation of the auxiliary air valve
4. Start the engine. Increase the engine speed to 3000 rpm, then sharply release the throttle and follow the voltmeter readings. At revolutions greater than 2100±100 rpm, no voltage should be registered; below this speed, the voltmeter should read 12 volts. Turn off the engine and remove the voltmeter.
5. Check the operation of the auxiliary air supply valve by connecting it to the battery as shown in the figure. When voltage is applied, a click should be heard.
Connect the valve to the accumulator as shown to check its operation
6. Check up the switch of idling as follows. Start the engine and connect the voltmeter to the connector as shown. No voltage should be registered at idle speed. Increase the engine speed and check that at 1200-1300 rpm the voltmeter shows 12 V. Turn the idle switch adjusting screw if necessary to adjust the switch.
Plug in a voltmeter (top right) to the idling switch of the auxiliary air supply system
7. Turn off the engine, disconnect the voltmeter and install the air filter.
