2. On models with rear drum brakes, remove the brake pads (see paragraph 6) and disconnect the cable ends from the rear shoe (see figure 6.2,k). Using pliers, squeeze the cable clamps and pull the cable through the rear shield (figure 14.2). An alternative method is to place a suitable sized lug wrench on the clamps.

Note: If Ves does not have such a wrench, small hose clamps can be used. Place the clamp over the clips, tighten it, then push the cable through the rear shield and remove the clamp. The procedure for disconnecting the parking brake cable is illustrated figure 6.4,k.
3. On models with rear disc brakes, the procedure for disconnecting the cable from the caliper is illustrated figure 3.7, a-c.
4. Disconnect the front end of the cable from the rocker arm, then squeeze the clamps and thread the cable through the bracket (figure 14.4).

5. Unscrew the bolts securing the cable to the body, remembering their location, then remove the cable from the car (figure 14.5). It may be necessary to crush the muffler pipe heat shield casing to make it easier to crush the cable.

6. If both cables are removed, repeat this procedure for the remaining cable.
7. The cable is installed in the reverse order of removal. After installing the cable(s), adjust them (see paragraph 13).
