1. Place chocks under the front wheels. Loosen the rear wheel nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle and place it on supports.

2. On models with rear drum brakes, remove the brake pads (see paragraph 6) and disconnect the cable ends from the rear shoe (see figure 6.2,k). Using pliers, squeeze the cable clamps and pull the cable through the rear shield (figure 14.2). An alternative method is to place a suitable sized lug wrench on the clamps.

Note: If Ves does not have such a wrench, small hose clamps can be used. Place the clamp over the clips, tighten it, then push the cable through the rear shield and remove the clamp. The procedure for disconnecting the parking brake cable is illustrated figure 6.4,k.
