Caution! The air conditioning system is under excess pressure. Do not disconnect the system lines until the system is discharged. The refrigerant must be properly removed and sent for regeneration to a service station or to a specialized station with the appropriate equipment.


Removal



1. Discharge the air conditioning system (to do this, contact a specialized station).

2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Caution: If your vehicle's audio system is equipped with an anti-theft device, make sure you have the unlock code before disconnecting the battery.


3. Remove the compressor drive belt (see chapter 1).

4. Block the rear wheels so that the car cannot move. Raise the front of the vehicle at least 30 cm and support it on stands. Remove the splash guard from under the engine.

5. Disconnect the refrigerant lines and the compressor electrical connector (figure 17.5). Remove the compressor mounting bolts and remove the compressor from the engine.

6. If a new compressor is being installed, drain the oil from it into a graduated container. Add the same amount of new oil plus 20 ml to the compressor. Use only oil that is compatible with your system's refrigerant.



7. Install the compressor in sequence. reverse of removal. Tighten the compressor mounting bolts securely. When replacing O-rings, keep in mind that the rings must match the type of refrigerant in your air conditioner. Do not lubricate the fitting nuts with compressor oil.

8. Take the system to a specialized station for filling and testing.
