Manual Transmission
A special locking device prevents switching by mistake from 5th gear to reverse. The shift lever must first be in neutral before engaging reverse gear.

Driving with automatic transmission
Pic. 1.14. Automatic transmission selector lever positions
To drive a vehicle with an automatic transmission in normal mode, only the driving stage must be engaged «D». If the selector lever needs to be moved to the position «R» or «R» or it needs to be translated from the position «D» into position «2» or from position «2» into position «1», you must press the button on the selector lever handle (pic. 1.14). When moving the automatic gearbox control selector lever to the position indicated by the black arrow, you must press the button on the lever handle. In the direction indicated by the light arrow, the transmission control lever can be moved without pressing the button.
Attention! When shifting the lever from neutral or park to drive or reverse, depress the brake pedal.
Attention! Only when the vehicle has come to a halt, place the selector lever in position «R» or «R».
Attention! Never increase the engine speed to high speeds in forward gears with the brake applied.
Attention! Never hold the vehicle on hills by increasing the engine speed. Be sure to apply the brakes.
Attention! Shift at idle from position «N» or «R» in position of movement «1», «2», «D» or «R».
Attention! Shift at idle from position «N» or «R» in position of movement «1», «2», «D» or «R».
Engine start
When starting the engine, the selector lever must be in position «R» or «N».
«R» (parking)
Drive wheels are blocked.
The selector should be set to this position only when the car is completely stopped. Before turning off this position with the ignition on, additionally press the brake pedal.
Attention! The park position cannot be used as a parking brake. If you leave the vehicle, even for a short time, always apply the parking brake, engage the parking position, and remove the key from the ignition switch. The car must not be left unattended with the engine running.
«R» (reverse)
It is necessary to turn on only when the car is completely stopped and when the engine is idling.
In position «R» when the ignition is on, the reversing lights are on.
«N» (neutral position)
Idle position.
«D» (movement)
Gears shift automatically from low to higher and vice versa depending on the load on the engine and speed.
Under certain driving conditions, it is advisable to temporarily use one of the positions below.
«2» (second step of movement)
This position should be engaged when driving in heavy or slow traffic, when driving uphill, downhill and to achieve a greater effect of engine braking, when starting off on a slippery road, or in other situations in which it is desirable «soft» acceleration. Pay attention to the fact that on the steps of the movement «2» do not exceed the speed limit of 120 km/h or 110 km/h (1.6 l).
«1» (first stage of movement)
This travel stage is intended for transferring high tractive forces and for driving up or down steep slopes. Pay attention to the fact that on the steps of the movement «1» do not exceed the speed limit of 70 km/h or 60 km/h (1.6 l).
Forced early downshift device («Kick-down»)
The device provides maximum acceleration of the vehicle under the given driving conditions. As soon as the force on the accelerator pedal exceeds a certain threshold value, depending on the speed and speed of movement, a shift to one of the lower gears takes place. Switching to the next, higher gear will follow only when the maximum allowable value of the engine speed is reached.
Starting off on significant inclines
Press the brake pedal with your left foot and move the selector lever to the «D» or «1». Slowly press the accelerator pedal with your right foot and simultaneously release the brake pedal.
