With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, pull out the valve (with attached hose) from a rubber sealing ring.
Pic. 2.20. Checking the crankcase ventilation valve (PCV)
Put your finger on the end of the valve (pic. 2.20). If the engine speed decreases, then the valve is working properly. If the engine speed does not decrease, then the valve is defective and must be replaced.
To replace the valve, remove it from the end of the hose, marking the correct installation position and direction.
When purchasing a PCV crankcase ventilation valve, make sure it matches your vehicle model, year of manufacture, and engine size. Compare the old valve with the new one to make sure they are the same.
Insert the valve into the end of the hose. Inspect the rubber o-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
Reinstall the PCV valve and hose securely.
