Checking and adjusting the engine crankshaft speed at idle speed (Mazda Capella GC)

Since diesel engines do not have an ignition system, a special tachometer is required. But its purchase is not justified, as it is quite expensive. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, the coolant temperature should be at least +80°C.

Turn off all electrical consumers (radio receiver, lighting). With the engine idling, apply the parking brake.

Measure the engine idle speed, which should be:

• (825±25) min⁻¹ for RF engine;
• (725+25) min⁻¹ for RF-N engine.

If the engine idle speed is not correct, loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw to adjust the speed (figure 4.24). After adjustment, tighten the lock nut.

Caution: If the engine idle speed cannot be adjusted, contact a Mazda or Bosch service center.
