For four-wheel steering, power-assisted rack and pinion steering is used. The transmission of steering wheel rotation to the front wheel control and from it via the transmission shaft to the rear wheel control is carried out through a hydraulic and electronic system, and it is not the purpose of this book to describe its operating principle.
We would like to point out that installing the transmission shaft without following the instructions may lead to an accident and therefore we strongly recommend that all work carried out on the steering system of a four-wheel drive vehicle be carried out in a workshop. Figure 209 shows the individual components of the steering system with the location of the connected parts.
