1. Install the engine in the engine compartment and check the engine oil and coolant levels.
2. Remove the spark plugs from the engine, ground the ignition coil high voltage wire to the engine block, and crank the engine a few times. Until the engine oil pressure warning light goes out.
3. Install the spark plugs, their plug wires and the ignition coil high voltage wire.
4. Make sure the carburetor choke is closed, then start the engine. It may take a few minutes for the fuel to reach the carburetor, but the engine should start without much effort.
5. Once the engine starts, run it at fast idle to circulate the oil and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. While the engine is warming up, do a complete inspection for coolant and oil leaks.
6. Stop the engine and recheck the engine oil and coolant levels. Restart the engine and check the ignition timing and idle speed (see section 1). Make any necessary adjustments.
7. When running in, press the gas pedal to the stop and accelerate the car to 80 km / h, then reduce the speed to 50 km / h with the throttle closed. Repeat the procedure 10-12 times - this will grind the piston rings. Re-inspect for coolant and oil leaks.
8. For the first 800 km, try not to drive at high speeds and constantly check the oil level. Sometimes the engine uses all the oil during the break-in period.
9. After approximately 800-950 km of run, change the oil and filter, tighten the cylinder head bolts and re-check the valve clearances.
10. After 3200 km of run, change the oil again.
