Caution: When starting the engine for the first time, keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
1. After installing the engine in the vehicle, check the oil and coolant levels again.
2. While the spark plugs are removed, the fuel pump and ignition system are disconnected (see paragraph 3), crank the engine with the starter until the indicator shows oil pressure or until the warning light goes out,
3. Screw in the spark plugs, attach the high-voltage wires to them, restore the functions of the fuel pump and ignition system.
4. Start the engine. It may not start immediately, as the pump will need some time to fill the system and restore operating pressure.
5. After starting the engine, allow it to warm up to normal operating temperature at idle speed. While the engine is warming up, carefully inspect it from all sides for fuel, oil and coolant leaks.
6. Stop the engine and recheck the oil and coolant levels.
7. Drive the car onto a road with light traffic. Accelerate the car from 50 to 80 km/h, then slow down again to 50 km/h by closing the throttle. Repeat this procedure 10-12 times. This will load the piston rings and help them settle into their proper positions. Check again for leaks.
8. For the first 800 km after repair, try not to overload the engine, avoid sudden acceleration and do not drive at maximum speed. Check the oil level regularly and top up as needed - increased oil consumption is possible during the running-in period.
9. After driving approximately 800 to 1000 km, change the oil and filter.
10. You can drive normally for the next few hundred kilometers. The engine may not be so gentle, but it should not be overloaded either.
11. After 3000 km, change the oil and filter again. After this, the running-in process can be considered complete.
