Gear selector
A. Selector lever; B. Unlock button; B. Hold button; D. Mode indicator
The position of the selector is displayed on the indicator panel.
P Parking. In this mode, the gear links are mechanically locked and the drive wheels cannot rotate. It is used simultaneously with a hundred-ton brake when the car is parked. It is not recommended to use the parking mode instead of the parking brake. Use the AP' mode and the parking brake at the same time to safely park your vehicle.
N Neutral. Interrupts the flow of power from the engine to the drive wheels. It is used when starting and warming up the Engine, towing. Switching the selector from position N to any other position should be performed only at idle.
A Reverse. Reverse gear can only be engaged after the vehicle has come to a complete stop and the engine is idling.
D Movement. In this selector position, automatic shifting takes place within the entire possible range of four gears. Used most often under normal driving conditions. The moment of switching from gear to gear depends on the selected program of work (normal, sports, winter).
S Same as D, but gear selection is only within the first three gears.
L Same as D, but gear selection is limited to the first two gears only.
It is advisable to turn on the S and L positions when driving on mountain roads with steep ascents and descents, when driving on winding roads to prevent too high speed when cornering, when driving in a city in heavy traffic.
Hold button
Hold mode overrides automatic shifting. When the hold button B is turned on, the following gears are fixed in the gearbox:
- In D mode - third gear When stopped, the gearbox shifts to second gear, which starts off. The transmission then shifts back to third gear (if traffic conditions allow it).
- In S mode - second gear.
- In L mode - first gear.
Hold mode is useful when starting off on slippery surfaces, when driving uphill or downhill.
When the hold mode is selected, the HOLD indicator on the instrument panel turns on.
To turn off hold mode, press the button again.
Unlock button
To prevent dangerous accidental shifts, the automatic transmission has several interlocks. In particular, position P is blocked. reverse gear R is engaged, the transition from mode S to mode L. If you are sure that you are performing a valid shift, then the lock can be released by pressing the unlock button B.
