If you follow the text and pictures step by step while working, you shouldn't have any difficulties.
Tables of parameters and dimensions at the end of the manual (chapter 19) are an important part of this manual and must be used for all repair work on the vehicle.
Within individual chapters of the manual, the required dimensions or installation values are not always given, as they can be found in the table at the end of the book. Particular attention must be paid to considering the characteristics of the corresponding model in order to avoid mistakes.
Simple operations such as "opening the hood" before working in the engine compartment or "loosening the nut on the colossus" before working on the brakes are not always indicated, as they are a self-evident prerequisite.
At the same time, the text examines complex works in detail, which are described in all details. There are a number of important guidelines that must be followed during all repair work:
- Use bolts and nuts that are clean and lightly lubricated. The threads of nuts and bolts should be regularly checked for damage and any burrs removed. In case of doubt, new bolts and nuts should be used.
- Unscrewed self-locking nuts must be replaced every time. Bolts and nuts must not be degreased under any circumstances.
- Always adhere to the tightening torques given in the table (chapter 20). These quantities are grouped into approximately equal groups, which can be easily found in this chapter.
- All sealing washers, gaskets, retaining washers, cotter pins and "O"-rings (o-ring seals) it needs to be updated during assembly. Oil seal rings (radial sealing rings, radial seals) need to be changed if the shaft is removed from them. The chamfer of the sealing ring must be lubricated with grease before assembly. In this case, you need to ensure that when assembling it, it is directed in the direction from which fat or oil may appear.
- When referring to the left or right sides of a vehicle, it is assumed that the designations of the sides can be derived from the forward direction, similar to the concepts of "forward" and "backward." In important cases, clarifications are provided again in the text.
- It is especially important to ensure that when repairing the brake system, when hanging wheels, and generally when working on the lower part of the vehicle, the raised machine is securely fastened. The car jack is intended only for changing tires on the road. If it is used during repairs, the car is only lifted and then lowered onto a secure support. Brick stands should not be used to support the body, but large stones can be used due to their larger load-bearing surface, but then a strong wooden beam must be inserted between the car and the stone.
- Grease, oil, underbody anti-corrosion protection and all mineral substances have an aggressive effect on the rubber parts of the chassis and brake system. These products, as well as fuel, must be kept away from the hydraulic system. To clean the brake system, use only brake fluid or alcohol. But you need to know that brake fluid is poisonous and destroys painted surfaces.
- To achieve the best results during repairs, it is necessary to use original spare parts. To avoid any difficulties in the future, it is necessary to prevent the ingress of foreign substances during installation. An exception is made only for parts of the electrical system or in the event of. if the manufacturer makes the appropriate unlocking.
- When supplying spare or replacement parts, please indicate the exact model designation with the chassis number, and where applicable, the engine number and year of manufacture. This speeds up delivery and limits the receipt of defective parts.
- All work on the car, especially on the braking system and steering, must be carried out carefully and attentively. The car's driving safety must be guaranteed after each repair.
