RF-N Engine V-Belt Arrangement
1. Side casing; 2. V-belt; 3. Crankshaft pulley; 4. Left and right toothed belt covers 5. V-belt idler roller; 6. Idler pulley; 7. Toothed belt; 8. Tension roller with spring
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery.
Caution! This will erase the contents of electronic storage devices, such as the radio receiver code. Before disconnecting the battery, please read subsection 2.11.
2. Raise the vehicle and remove the right front wheel.
3. Remove the lower engine cover in the right wheel arch.
4. Remove the V-belt.
5. Block the engine and remove the crankshaft belt pulley mounting bolts.
6. To lock the engine, put the transmission in 5th gear and have your assistant press the brake pedal.
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

8. Remove the right and left timing belt covers.
9. Remove the engine mount.
10. Remove the glow plugs.
11. To turn the engine crankshaft, apply the handbrake and set the gearbox to neutral. Using a ratchet and socket, turn the crankshaft wheels from the right wheel arch side.
Caution! Never turn the crankshaft by the camshaft wheels through the timing belt drive to avoid overloading the timing belt.

12. When reinstalling the timing belt, mark it. In this case, you should mark the direction of rotation arrow on the belt with a scriber. The engine rotates clockwise.
13. Unscrew the idler pulley.
14. Remove the timing belt. After that, do not turn the gears.
Caution! Before removing, double-check that the mark on the camshaft gear matches the edge of the cylinder head; adjust if necessary.
Caution! If necessary, inspect the camshaft with the timing belt removed. No piston should be at TDC. Otherwise, serious damage to the pistons and valves may occur.

15. Before applying the mark, set cylinder 1 to the TDC position. To do this, rotate the crankshaft until the mark (1) on the camshaft gear (2) aligns with the mark on the front plate. Then turn the crankshaft wheel 1/4 turn (90°) left or right. The mark should now be facing left or right.
Installation
Caution! Do not bend or twist the timing belt. Be sure to replace belts that are dirty, damaged or worn. Check that the tension roller moves smoothly and easily.

1. Check that the crankshaft wheel is aligned with the marks shown in the figure. At the same time, the marking on the camshaft wheel must match the marking on the front plate. If not, turn it to the desired position. For instructions on turning the engine with the timing belt removed, see. in the "Withdrawal" section.
2. Apply the timing belt. When applying the old belt, apply it in accordance with the direction of rotation arrow indicated.
Caution: Make sure the belt fits tightly around the wheels and does not sag.
3. Install and tighten the idler pulley to 50 Nm.
Tension
1. Loosen the tension roller bolt enough to allow the roller to move toward the timing belt under spring force.

2. Turn the crankshaft two turns clockwise until the marks on the camshaft and on the front plate align. Double check that all the marks match.
3. Tighten the tension roller bolt to 50 Nm.
4. Turn the crankshaft two revolutions in the direction of engine rotation and check the adjustment again.
5. Install and tighten the right and left timing belt covers to 10 Nm.
6. Block the engine and insert the crankshaft belt pulley mounting bolts, tighten them to 30 Nm.
7. To lock the engine, put the transmission in 5th gear and have your assistant press the brake pedal.
8. Install glow plugs.
9. Install and tension the V-belt.
10. Install the cover in the right wheel arch.
11. Connect the negative ground cable to the battery.
12. If you have a clock, set the time and set the security code for the radio.
