2. If you can't get a stand, you can disassemble the engine on the floor, securing it in a stable position with wooden blocks. Be especially careful when working without a stand to avoid dropping or tipping the engine.
3. If you are going to purchase a rebuilt engine, first remove the following components and parts that will need to be installed on the new engine.
- The generator with its brackets
- Carbon Canister Purge Control Components
- Ignition distributor, spark plugs and high-voltage wires (or ignition coil unit - for models produced since 1996)
- Thermostat and housing cover
- Water pump
- Fuel injection units
- Intake and exhaust manifolds
- Oil filter
- Engine mounts
- Flywheel (faceplate/ and clutch

Note: When disassembling, pay attention to details that may be important during assembly: the position of gaskets, seals, and spacers. pins, brackets, bolts, washers and other "little things".
4. If you purchased an incomplete engine ("short engine"), then you also need to remove the oil pan, cylinder head and oil pump (see paragraph 5).
5. If you are planning a complete overhaul of your engine, then you need to dismantle all the parts located inside the engine:
- Cylinder head cover
- Intake and exhaust manifolds
- Valve timing belt covers
- Toothed belt and sprockets
- Cylinder head
- Oil pan and oil separator
- Oil pump
- Pistons with connecting rods
- Crankshaft rear oil seal housing
- Lower block amplifier
- Main bearings and crankshaft
6. Before you begin disassembling, make sure you have the following tools and materials at your disposal. See also in paragraph 22, what tools and materials you will need to assemble the engine.
- A set of common hand tools
- Kolobok with cells or plastic bags for storing groups of small parts
- Plastic scraper
- Crankshaft pulley puller
- Cylinder reamer
- Valve seat countersink
- Micrometer
- Pointer indicator

- Honing head
- Tool for cleaning piston track grooves
- Electric drill
- Set of taps and dies
- Wire brushes
- Duct cleaning brushes
- Solvent for cleaning parts
