  • Removal air from a hydraulic system

Bleeding the hydraulic system is necessary if the brake line network has been opened at any point or if air has entered in any other way. De-aerating the entire installation, however, is not always necessary. The tables below indicate the air bleed locations if a specific part has been removed:

The brake master cylinder, brake pressure distribution valve or anti-lock brake system hydraulic unit have been removed and air is bled from the front right, front left and rear right.

If the disc brake caliper or wheel brake cylinder has been removed, it may be necessary to bleed the air from the cylinder of the corresponding wheel only.

Before removing air from the unit, remove dirt and foreign particles from the air removal areas and from the receiver filler cap.

Set the fluid level in the receiver to the correct position and, while removing air, keep it at a level that is above halfway.

After removing the dust cap, place the transparent fuel hose on the corresponding air bleed valve. Place the other end of the hose in a glass container with a small amount of brake fluid.

The other person should press the brake pedal to the floor. Open the vent screw plug half a turn with the pedal pressed to the floor. Observe the stream of liquid coming out of the hose.

If there are no more air bubbles, it means that all the air has come out of the unit. During the final climb, keep the brake pedal on the ground and close the release valve. Slowly release the pedal and do not press it again until the next vent plug is installed.

The same work in the given sequence is carried out with other plugs if air is removed from the entire system. Once again, it is important to note that the brake fluid level must be constantly monitored to prevent air from being sucked into the system. There is never any need to refill the tank with liquid that has been sucked out of the unit. Also, do not use liquid that has been in an open container for a long time.
